I recently bought a van from a car lot in a neighboring town. When we had settled on terms and went to the office to sign papers, my husband left to go home. He works nights and had been up all night. I am now stranded 60 miles from home with two kids and no vehicle except the one I am about to buy. Before finishing the paperwork, the salesman tells me that there is just one other little thing...a NON-negotiable extended warranty for $1800 (The vehicle price was only $5,000). If I don't take the extended warranty, no sale. Is that legal??
