I live in Oklahoma.

What is the law pertaining to purchasing prescription eyewear (non-contact), such as sunglasses when either there is no expiration date on the prescription vs. one that has an expiration date? Does the business who is going to fill the prescription liable by state law or federal law to prohibit the making of such eyewear if the consumer wishes to have that filled sighting the prescription works well for them? Please advise...thank you. -Tim

Per Federal Trade Commission rules, a valid eyewear presecription is required before a provider can sell any prescription eyewear. Prescriptions can be valid for no more than two years. An eyewear provider can face fines or loss of their license for issuing prescription eyewear without a valid prescription.
