bethlehem, pa went to a medical specialist who told me they took my healthcare insurance. they didn't so now they want me to pay the bill. they have admitted they mis-informed me. when service was rendered they acted as if they accepted my ins. and only charged me my co-pay and they submitted all ins. forms. if i had known i would have used a participating provider.
question??? am i responsible for their error?

Did you receive a receipt for your services? Somewhere in all the small print it will say that the doctor, his office, clinic etc. shall not be held liable for any billing errors or incorrect insurance claims. Although you received wrong information, it is still your responsibility to verify the information you are given is correct. The info supplied by your health care provider or a 5 minute phone call to verify the doctors participation in your plan would have saved you time and money. Check to see if your provider has provisions for partial payment for out of plan services, it will save you a few bucks.

thanks for the reply, its sort of what i expected. the hc providers have lawyers prepare their documents so im sure their backsides are covered. i was just hoping there was a loop-hole when they admit error. i don't have any reciepts or documents for the treatment since they submitted all the claims for me, but the language you mention is probably on the consent for treatment forms. im going to speak to them today and try to apeal to their good nature. hope they have one. thanks again.
