What is the name of your state? Louisiana

A grocery store gives preferred customer cards to people who are willing to give very personal information. How can it not be discriminatory for them to charge people who are not willing to give out this information, higher prices?

Just like credit card companies and banks can offer different interest rates based on credit history (personal information).

Just like insurance companies can offer higher premiums for bad driving history (personal information).

Just like utilities can have higher deposit based on payment performance(personal information).

Just like child support can ordered in different amounts based on a persons pay amount (personal information).

Just like alot of things based on personal information.

I know it is not exactly the same thing but as an industry they have the right to offer quirks if they want. If you want the discount then give the info. If you don't want the discount then don't give it. It's not a hard concept. They aren't making the choice that could be discriminating in any manor. It is totally you choice and up to you.

*** Actually, you have this reversed. They are offering a DISCOUNT to the preferred members (who have given the information) and not charging higher prices. And offering a discount for this is perfectly legal...... and good marketing sense.
