Does anyone know what California Consumer laws say about prepaid purchases expiring after 1 year? My friend purchased a package of 10 tanning sessions, one of which he actually used. This was in June of 2002. He attempted to use one of the 9 remaining sessions and was told that they had "expired." I know that California does not allow for gift certificates or gift cards to expire if they were purchased for the published cash value, but can prepaid tanning packages be considered in the same manner? It sounds rather pithy that a business can decide to keep your money without providing the services that you had prepaid for. Anyone handy in consumer law out there? Thanks in advance! - Stacy
