Removing my name from title

What is the name of your state? Illinois
I let somebody put a car title and register in my name. Now they won't return my calls so I can have the papers switched over. If i involve police to go there the people will go hiding (in the wind). If I go to the apartment complex and just take the plates from the car (this will force them to contact me) will I get in trouble with the law?What is the name of your state?

Then you own the car. Go get it or go to the DMV for a copy of the title THEN call a tow company to haul it away.
