Repair work on coworkers car

california, i agreed to do some work on a co-workers car, it's been in my garage for months, keeps putting it off saying he has no money, now he's going on a costly trip. can i do the work and put a lien on the vihicle for parts and labor? or is there some other option? this is not my regular profession. thank you

Do not repair the vehicle. Have the vehicle towed back to it's owner, and chock the whole matter up to "experience".
