My cousin wanted to be released from her contract with her talent agent. However, my cousin could not find a copy of the contract signed over ten years ago. She requested a copy from her agent for over a year, but her agent would not produce a copy. She sent her agent a letter stating that if she did not produce the contract within 30 days that she would leave the agency. The agent did not produce the contract until 60 days after receipt of the letter. The contract can only be terminated 30 days before the anniversary of the contract. Otherwise the agent gets damages of half commission of my cousin's future eaerning. Does my cousin have any defenses for breach of contract?
