Rights to the car?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA

My GF purchased a car for me under her name (loan and title) but I made the down payment, and I have been making the monthly payments. One problem is that I have not made every payment. Now, we are broken up and she doesn't want me to have the car. What rights, if any, do I have? If I took the car, could the police arrest me?

It's not your car. You were just making (some of) the payments and driving it. And to answer your question, absolutely.
