What is the name of your state? Virginia

we pre-enrolled our child in a private christian school in march 2003 for the 2003-2004 school year. we notofied the school in May that we were withdrawing our child from the next school year. The school states that we signed a contract, that we owe the tuition in full. The school states they have overhead costs and that we have committed to the tuition. In the past we have known other parents that have withdrawn their children and they were not required to pay the tuition. Is this legal that tuition is owed in its entirety. Do we have any other options other than to pay the costs of tuition.
