Signing Contracts Online?

What, if any, laws are there concerning the signing of contracts online? From what I know, in order for an online contract to be vaild, you must digitally sign your full name and social security number.

I'm currently attempting to cancel a service, but they're saying that by simply purchasing the service, I agreed to a 1 year contract with them. They never sent me any contract in writing for me to sign & return.

is this a legally binding contract?
