I live in california and recently went to purchase some furniture for my home. When I was filling out the application for the credit card that the store was offering, the associate asked that I give a thumb print on the actual application. He pulled out a pad of ink and asked that I do it. I refused to do it and did not purchase the items. I just purchased an automobile for $40,000 and they did not ask for a thumb print but when I went to purchase a sofa they did (makes no sense). Is this legal to do in the state of california?
