    Timeshare contracts

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Georgia

Husband and I went on vacation to the smoky mtns, and while there was invited to a timeshare presentation, well we got wrapped up in all the presentation and ended up agreeing to purchasing one. This was through westgate resorts, we are still paying on the downpayment until November and realized we have made a huge huge mistake and want out, since the downpayment is not paid in full, is there anyway legally to get out of this contract. There was only a 10 day grace period but im sure that was from the day of the presentation and not when the down payment was paid. We don't even begin ownership until 2010, and we don't want it, can't afford it, but can't ruin our credit either as we still dont own a home of our own and that comes first, we just were not thinking on vacation and got wrapped up in the moment.

No one here can tell you what's in your contract. You'll have to read it yourself or take it to an attorney to determine what (if anything) you can do to cancel the contract.
