What is the name of your state? CT

I just had a nail removed from my Pathfinder at a Danbury, CT tire dealership and after the repair was done I noticed the wheel had a scratch around the outer edge where the tire removal machine scratched the rim. The rim also had 2 deep gouges (about 1/2 long) about 1 inch in from the edge as well as a few small dents in different locations. The dealership has offered to pay for having the rim repainted by a wheel repair shop (about $240), but I want a new rim (about $600). What are my chances of getting a new rim in small claims court if the dealership refuses to pay for it and these scratches are only cosmetic defects, not structural? What options do you recommend? Would a letter from a lawyer help me? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
