If my civil case goes to trial, will it be in my county or the county where the defendant lives and operates? I just don't know how the system works...

You're going to need to supply a lot more information than that...starting with your state.

ETA: If this somehow related to your other post (placed on another person's thread), you're likely going to need to sue in the defendant's county.

The civil case goes to trial in the court that it's filed in. Are you asking what court you are allowed to file it in or what court it is likely to be filed in by another party?
