I stumbled across this website the other day that was basically doing a "backups by request for profit" thing. Claims to be out of Indiana.

Is that legal to do that? Seems as if they sell backup copies of movies/software/audio cds/just about everything else for profit. There is a disclaimer on the site that says you must legally own the real product first, and a terms of use statement that has the same thing in it that you must agree to in order to sign up.

they have some pre-listed products as well as a service to where you can send whatever you want backed up and they will copy it for you and send the original and copy back to you for a fee (and obviously they must get a free copy of it to).

by the look of the site it was semi-professionally made and they have been doing it for a while, they must have had at least SOME customers. I was wondering, is that even legal? im sure it violates some copyright laws or something. Does their disclaim and terms of use statement make it ok?

thanks

*** No, it is illegal as hell and it is only a matter of time until the 'copyright police' shut them down.
