For a new company I am planning to establish in the US:

Xcraft makes and sells boats. I am in business to make completely irrelative product, say furniture.

- How do I know if the brand Xcraft registered for boats only or any other product? USPTO database?
- Can I register&use a brand as: 'Xcraft Furniture'?
- If yes, can I write just 'Xcraft' on the furnitures (without adding the word 'Furniture'? (WITHOUT using their logo or fonts of course, with my own logo and fonts; nothing similar except the word Xcraft!)

Thanks!

You can search the USPTO trademark database, but be aware that there is no requirement that trademarks be registered in the U.S. -- a company can have a completely enforceable trademark without registration. If you are going to start a company, you would be smart to hire an attorney who can perform a comprehensive trademark search and be in a position to advise you about the use of your proposed name before you spend a lot of time, money and effort developing your brand.
