Michigan. My work has bartered to obtain certain generic music files. These files are licensed for over the air broadcast on this station only. If these files were copied to work on things for work at home is this a violation of any license or copyright? If the files only ever were played on the station with the license, and deleted afterward, can anything legal happen in the future? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Depends what the licensing of the "generic" music files. There's two sets of rights here. One is the authorization to copy the music. The other is the authorization to perform that music in a public environment. Both are important.
If you are dealing with one of the things like Major Music, it's pretty much licensed to the station. You can probably be covered under that license while doing work for hire for them, but you need to look at the agreement between the music owner and the station.
