Copying a photoWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? PA I have a photo that was done by a professional photographer about 50+ years ago. My cousin asked me if I could get a copy made for her and I took it to a copy store but they would not do it. I did not realize that it would be a violation of a copyright law even though the photographer is deceased. Could you explain more and is there a way to get another photo made without any problems? Thank you. |

| Given the age of that work, one would assert it was either work for hire or publication (presuming it bears no copyright notice). Either way you have the right to copy now. Find a better copy shop. The laws changed significantly in 1989.

| **A: or go to Kinko's etc. and use self service color copier. Or scan it and email her the photo. |
