What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Ohio

I am an aspiring writer and have recently collaberated with another on a children's book series. His idea involves a character named "Hoppin' Gator", which was the brand name of a beer years ago. I am curious what rights, if any, we have to use this title. Thanks in advance for any advice someone can give on this subject.

Titles aren't protected by copyright. Trademark is what you have to worry about. If someone is still using that mark in commerce, if you would cause confusion over the mark or dilute it's fame, then you'd be in trouble. If it's an old dead thing, then you probably are safe.
