What is the name of your state? New York

If I wanted to email or post an article on a web site from a news source, like the Wall Street Journal or the Financial Times, without citing the author, but I would not be receiving any direct compensation, would this be an infringement of copyright law? And if so, what type of damages could they try to sue for?
