What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Maryland

I am getting ready to copyright my photos for the first time. Let's say my name is Jane Marie Smith but my for photography purposes I am only known as "Jane Marie". If I register my photos submitting the author's 1st and last name: "Jane Marie" if I ever need to sue for infringement under the name Jane (Marie) Smith? Will I make my copyright 'null and void' by indicating the author's last name is Marie when it's actually "secretly" Smith?

I called the copyright office but they said this is a legal question and refused to answer. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
