I work for a company that is not in the software business. On my own time and at home on my own computer, I have developed/written programs (templates) that I currently use to make my job easier. The templates are used with FileMakerPro 5 database software - the software our company uses to track vendors and clients reservations. I keep the programs (templates) I wrote on personal 3.5 floppy disks and transport them to and from work daily.
Do I own the template programming? If (when) I leave this company and venture out on my own, do they have any rights to the software?
If not, how do I go about copyrighting these programs/templates to protect me?
