Hi, i'm an artist working in ohio, and i have a question about copyright. i plan to do a series of screenprints and/or paintings that are direct "copies" of stills from cartoons, though on a largerscale. what i am asking is this:

because the new "copies" are not cartoons themselves and do not apply to the animation market is it considered fair use under some clause of transformation?

another thing is that the images are from parts of the cartoons that are secondary -- i.e. do not contain the main characters -- and thus would not be easily recognized as a copy, so should i even worry?

thanks.
