I'm trying to find out more info about how copyright protections work online.
I was wondering how it is that companies like Google, Facebook, Youtube, etc. are somehow able to use property that they do not own while providing a service. In the case of Facebook, members agree to whatever terms and conditions. But in the case of Google, the search engine grabs images and reproduces them and it is this service that they are providing and generating revenue from. Ultimately, I'm trying to decide how I need to fully protect myself online, even if it means keeping search engines from using my images or searching my pages.
