I don't need the book taking up space when i can just scan it. Also, can get some money off the book on ebay or something and make someone happy that wants the yearbook. is this okay?

Generally that is illegal, while you can fair use make backups or copies of something you own for your own use, retaining such after you sell the original is not permitted.
