Music translating

What is the name of your state? VA
I translate music for the Deaf into American Sign Language. If I type these translated lyrics and post them for other interpreters to read and transpose, is this illegal and am I breaking copyright laws? Mind you, the lyrics are written as concepts. Eg: actual lyric ::There is a balm in Gilead:: ASL interpretation ::there is comfort in Jesus::

Music Translating

No money whatsoever. Not doing it for money. It's a pain in the butt when you get a last minute job and you have to gloss two hours worth of music. Just doing it to make life easier for a lot of us interpreters.

In order to protect yourself from possible liability, I would suggest that you (or any agency you do this for) send a letter to BMI and ASCAP and ask for a clarification. Those two agencies are responsible for monitoring music copyright compliance.
