Is it possible to offer the rights to a book which is written to the company it pretty much sells out, without being accused of extortion?

The book is 90% complete and I have spoken with a publisher who is interested in publishing it. They have already proofed the submitted text and think it is a great layout. My concern is, the book does lay out a number of legal problems this company has (wire fraud, price fixing, tax evasion, etc.) and I believe they would rather keep it off the record. In my opinion, I am going to be paid for the book either way. I see the potential problem, could it develop into a legitimate one?
