Desktop Marketing Limited (DML) produced a CD-ROM containing a directory similar to that of the Telecom (a telecommunications company) telephone directory. In fact DML had taken the telephone directory, retyped the information and made a few changes to produce the CD-ROM.

Did DML infringe Telecom's copyright under US law?

Plagarism is a form of copyright infringement. Legit telephone directory producers pay for the information in the directories. They have the right to protect their investment.
