What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? AZ

In a for-profit publication of odd news and trivia which includes quotes by famous contemporary and historic persons, interesting facts pertaining to ramdom subjects, and simialr such content, would it be unwise to include on a regualr basis a quote from a 50 to 100+ year old newspaper article or magazine article and include the name of the source publication? unwise in regard to the well known newspaper becoming agravated by such activity?

It is always better to get permission from any copyright holder prior to using their copyrighted material, especially when the material will be used in a for-profit publication.
