What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New York

I am considering putting some sayings on t-shirts and am getting very mixed opinions about if there could be a copyright issue.

In addition to the typical parameters of this question, the situation is a little different because I'm using them as fill in the blanks to make someone think of a specific word. So for instance I may do:

Give _____ A Chance
*The fill in is "peace" and it's from a Beatles song.

I would love to hear some legal insight into this.
