    T-shirt company used my content

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

A company selling T-shirts with humorous content from a website mentions on the site that they 'lifted' the material from me (an article I wrote). I'm not sure if the line of shirts is current or discontinued. Am I entitled to royalties, commission, fee, and how do I proceed?

Sue the bad guys for your losses.
If you feel my answer is rude, mean, snarky or in anyway not to your liking, I did my job. You don't need to tell me.

No private messages, I do not reply to them.

"Sue the bad guys for my losses"

Well, I don't have losses per se. Just don't have money that I'm potentially entitled to. They freely acknowledge me on the website, so I tend to think they're not 'bad guys' - so am wondering if there's a less heavy-handed approach - at least initially. thanks.

Well, you can start off small with a friendly email: "Hey, I think you stole my IP, so pay up."

If that doesn't work, draft a legal letter (you'll want the aid of an attorney in writing this).

If that doesn't work, sue for the amount you feel you're entitled to.

Out of curiosity, what was the context of whatever was stolen from you?
The only thing worse than getting into an argument about politics is getting into an argument because you refuse to argue politics.

    The context

I had written a humor column in conjunction with some super-hero movie release about super-powers we could use to deal with everyday life, and the company put these on their shirts. this might be case of other minds having the same idea, except that they acknowledge on their site that they got it from me.

take a screen shot before you contact anybody
I have reduced my participation to very rarely, which means I'll really only look at the forums when I get a question from one of the senior members that know how to contact me personally and whom I respect greatly or I need a break.

    ### I am not a lawyer. If I were a lawyer, I would not be your lawyer. You are getting advice from anonymous people on the internet -- talk to a local attorney and/or research for yourself before taking any action. ###
