Attorney Malpractice??

i hired an attorney to represent me in my illinois workers comp case. i signed all the appropriate paper work and filed the paperwork. at first everything was great, good communication, all my questions were answered. about 2 mos ago that all changed when my attorney was elected city attorney. he wouldn't answer any e-mails, phone calls, wouldn't see me when i went to his office, wouldn't even let me make an appointment to see him. i had a back injury, had surgery, therapy, and was released from dr's care and was able to go back to work. my employer didn't want me back so i lost me job(40,000yr) i'm still having trouble with my backand possibly need another surgery. all my attorney tells me is "i don't know what to tell you"the last time i talked to him. i since fired him and hired a new one. PLEASE HELP!!!!

did the attorney commit malpractice? he did not do what i hired him for!!!!!!!!!!!!!
