Question

Bad lawyer

What is the name of your state? NJ
I attained a lawyer to file a chapter 7 for me over a month ago. The last time I called him he said he was waiting for are notice from the court. Ha asked me if I got anything but, I have not. After trying to call him for the past week with no luck, and he has not returned any of my phone calls. I ended up calling the court to see if he filed it. The court looked it up but he has not filed anything as he told me he did**************...I paid him 900.00**************....Can I get this money back from him???? Can I sue him for this money???What do I do as I have tried going there with no luck and calling. What does the Law say about Lawyer that don't represent you After they take your money and case.

Bankruptcy courts are Federal courts, with some states having the option of following state guidelines but are still under the Federal law.

Federal Bankruptcy Courts take little patience with acts like this which harm the person filing bankruptcy.

Report the attorney to the Court itself--find out who is the Federal judge over your district's bankruptcy court and report this attorney.

Your situation should resolve itself rather quickly.
