Hello, My name is Cheryl and I had Breast Augmentation in April of 1999. I received brochures to read and was told that there was a risk that I would not regain feeling in the nipple area, but this was very, very slim chance. The implants were placed over the areola...to fill the envelop and he raised the nipple. This was to avoid a lift, save money and get the affect that I needed. (Dr. Requested)

Well I didn't get what I was suppost to get and they look bad.

It has been a year and 4 months....Not only do I NOT have the feeling in the nipple area I have NO feeling at all on the underneath side of either breast or underarm pit area. I have a ugly scare on top of both areolas and only partial feeling on the top side of the breast. I have been in the office and called several times asking when this feeling would regain. They told me a year...then they told me a year and a half sometimes.....I have since written him an email. Haven't heard back yet.

I have all the brochures they gave me at surgery and a paper that I signed telling me about the implants themselves. But nothing else.

I have written to a few PS from the web and they all come back with different answer...some say 2% won't get feeling back..some say 1% and another 1/2% and it takes up to two years to get it back**************..whats the deal...are they covering for each other...it just so happens the Statues of Limitation runs out in two years.

What do I do and where do I go from here? Everyone I have talk to have never heard of this problem. did the doctor mess up?

I can use all the help I can get.

You may consider another doctor for a 2nd opinion but if that is a known risk, even though small, there may not be much that can be done.

Unlike you, I had a breast reduction several years ago (best thing I ever did). I too was numb for quite some time, I can't remember how long. However, it can take up to a year for the nerves to come back, you just have to be patient. A second opinion couldn't hurt. Best of luck to you.
