Can I take a big company to small claims court

Hello,

I am in Southern California. I wrote an earlier post (about a week ago)regarding the purchase of a hard drive that contained a device that looked like a bomb.

I missed a full day of work while bomb squad investigated but was able to be compensated by taking this as a vacation day through my employer.

If I asked for compensation for this unscheduled day off in small claims court would a judge consider it? Also, how easy/hard is it to take a big company to small claims court. The company has their corporate headquarters in Texas.

Am I understanding correctly . . . you chose to take a paid vacation day but now you want to sue some computer company to get reimbursed for a day's pay that you already received?

Meaning you would have been paid twice for a day off?
