Defective fuel pump. Possible class action suit?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NJ

The fuel pump on my 2003 Chevy Cavalier died last week at 65,000 miles. This seemed like an odd and expensive part to break at a relatively low mileage.

After doing some research (google: 03 Cavalier fuel pump) it looks like everyone with my vehicle has had this part break between 50k-60k mile mark and the part appears to be defective. 2 recall investigations by the NHTSB have been launched with the results stating "no immediate danger but will need to do further research." Because of this, no recall has been issued.

I contacted GM about assisting with the cost of my repairs because the part is defective. They've said they will not help because the car is 6 years old and the part has not officially been recalled.

With the hundreds of testimonials online, and the 2 NHTSB investigations, there ought to be some recourse. Is there a next step I can take? This may be jumping the gun, but is a class action suit a viable option?

Your options:
1) File a small claims suit against the manufacturer, or
2) Wake up and realize that things can break after 6 years of use.

Your chance of a successful lawsuit hinges on their not showing up. If they show up, you lose.

Option?? Yes.
Viable?? No.

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

It's an American car. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. Look up "Chevy Impala Transmission" and read about all the people whose trannies clonked out after 30k miles. Or better yet, pick a random American-made car, a random major part, type them into Google, and read the thousands of unhappy U.S. automobile customers' complaints.

Buy a Honda.
