Dental MalpraticeWhat is the name of your state? LOUISIANA MY WIFE WENT TO HER DENTIST TO GET A ROOT CANAL. DURING THE PROCEDURE THEY TALKED ABOUT GETTING COSMETIC WORK DONE ON HER FRONT FOUR TEETH. BEFORE SHE GOT OUT OF THE CHAIR AND WITHOUT REMOVING THE NITROUS OXIDE SHE WAS RECEIVING HE BEGAN THE COSMETIC PROCEDURE. HE GROUND HER FRONT FOUR TEETH DOWN AND PUT TEMPORARY CAPS ON THEM. THERE HAD NEVER BEEN DISCUSSION ABOUT THIS PROCEDURE PRIOR TO PERFORMING THE PROCEDURE AND WAS NONE AFTER UNTIL THEY SENT THE BILL TO US ($2,600.00) THE NEXT DAY. WE SENT HIM A LETTER THAT DAY EXPRESSING OUR DISCONTENT AND STATING THAT WE WILL HAVE ANOTHER DENTIST FINISH AND SEND HIM THE BILL. DO YOU THINK WE HAVE A GOOD CHANCE OF SUING THIS GUY TO PAY THE OTHER DENTIST TO FINISH THE PROCEDURE BASED ON LACK OF CONSENT? |

| You will do better to go to a lawyer who handles dental malpractice. He can file a lawsuit and when the dentist's lawyers reply to his complaint, the two sets of lawyers can work out a solution or go to trial. But for you to make a demand that this dentist may not wish to accept is risky. He may be a crook, but you will never win a fight against him without some competent help. |

| Jack is right on target. You can see my 'dental malpractice' in the forum. I will be updating my thread within about a month. NV State Dental Peer Review Board is now doing review. Just before giving up on finding a lawyer to even return my phone call, it appears that i now have talked with one today who has offered to help out. He was recommended by a friend. Lawyers can deal with lawyers - victims can't.
