faulty work, do they owed what it cost me or deprciated value

What is the name of your state? georgia

i got some work done on my truck by pep boys, less than a week later my whole engine went out. they did faulty work that caused the engine to go out. they dont want to pay me what it cost to replace, they want to reimburse the amount it cost me depreciated by the age of my prior motor. is this right? i paid for a diagnostic test and they didnt follow what it reccomemded, they cut corners and that is why the motor went out, please advise
