| | | | gang assault What is the name of your state? ny
ok first im sorry if im in the wrong forum but i couldnt find a related one... ok here goes i was assaulted 2 nights ago by a group of 5+ people (the police have taken 5 into custody),and there were numerous witnesses as this happened directly in front of a police station! i was taken away in an ambulance, and treated for my left shoulder, and right knee,x rays were taken of both and the x rays came back negative on both, but i feel i still need to have them looked at by a specialist because their is definetly something wrong with both of them...and i have no health insurance, so my question is what can i do to get further medical attention, and what sort of steps should i take in order to sue for damages? |

Check your discharge instructions from the ER; it should state to return to the ER if you have further physical complaints or instructions to see your personal physician. You may have to seek treatment from your physician and pay for medical care for your knees.
I have no idea what is available in NY. Maybe a health department or a free clinic is available for you.
Soft tissue injury can be very painful and day three is often the worst. I think it's a little too soon to see a specialist. Give yourself a couple of weeks to heal. If you hear or feel any popping in your knees, or if your knees appear to be swelling with fluid, return to the ER. If you develop any symptoms that indicate internal injury, return to the ER at once.
Some people say that general soreness can be improved by soaking in a tub of warm water with a generous amount of epsom salt dissolved in the water.
About the only other suggestion I have is to avoid dairy products such as milk, yogurt, ice cream, etc. until the muscle soreness resolves; and, take whatever anti-inflammatory medication was recommended (like Advil or ibuprofen) and be sure to avoid any medications to which you are allergic or should not take for other reasons.

| | | | Nothing prevents your sueing the perpetrators for damages. They harmed you, and you are entitled to compensation just as if they had driven an automobile into you. Get a copy of the police report and take it with copies of your medical reports to any tort lawyer. He will help you. If he finds the persons who assaulted you have any assets, including insurance, he will sue for those. |

| | | | i've been to a doctors office and all they did for me was take my list of injuries, and prescribe me pain medication, and i have a follow up next week, i mean i can barely move my left arm, and i think my right knee may chipped, although the xrays came back negative...(i believe i am not getting adequate medical attention because i have no insurance, i have applied for medicaid, and crime victims compensation, but i am still sitting here not knowing the extent of my injuries) also i did not mention this in my first post but my attackers are all arab americans and have ties to al qaida, im not joking about this either, one of the perps was supposed to testify before the grand jury on the "Lackawanna Six" case, i am genuinely afraid for mine and my families safety now as this is the second time in two months i have assaulted by the same group, a police report was also filed for the first assault but no arrests were made. what im asking is how can i get someone to actually give me the attention that i need, and do you think i can sue for my fears of this happening again, i mean i was attacked by at least as 10 people (witnessess now confirm this) and only 4 have been arrested, that leaves 6 more people out there who attacked me... any help would be appreciated... i don't know what i should do |

| | | | Check with your police department to see if your state has a victim's rights office. Or ask anyone in the state ghovernment. Or look in the government pages of your telephone books. | |
