Hairloss after using revlon hair color

Virginia.

I have used Revlon color and have lost signifant amount of hair. I have the product which I had used and am pretty sure that its bcoz of that particular item, bcoz my mother and mother-in-law also had hairloss after using this product. I have discussed this with Revlon and they have asked me to send the item to them.

Pls provide me your valuable advice to take this matter forward. Will I require an attorney?

Thanks

Jeet

Did you apply the product yourself or was it done at a beauty shop/salon by someone else?

Do you have pictures of your hair BEFORE the product was used and AFTER the product was used?

Are you sure that you don't suffer from any disease or are taking any medications where side effects of taking them would cause hair loss?

Be sure to make a photocopy of the complete package and the bottle before you send it to the company.

Talk to a personal injury lawsuit attorney to see what this case might be worth.

Did you follow the package instructions that state to test a small area first before dying all your hair? I know someone that did the same thing, the manufacturer was nice and refunded the purchase price of the product but could not be held liable because the user did not follow the package instructions. Unless you are someone that makes a living based on the amount of hair on their head, you will not be successful with any kind of lawsuit.

ALSO

DID YOU FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS EXACTLY?

By this I mean the part about testing the dye on a small patch of skin for sensitivity....

Did you perform the allergy testing as stated on the box (which should be performed before every dye)? If not, then you did not use the product per its specifications. (It is noted on ALL boxes of hair dye I've ever seen.)

If your Mother & MIL already experienced hairloss from this product, why would you go ahead and use it anyway?

Appreciate the quick response from you guys. I had used this product in the past and never had any such problems,so the test was not conducted. I get this feeling that it is not the problem with the Product but with that particular piece of inventory that I have.

Thanks

with my cosmetology background, my next question is, how often do you use this product? what is your hair's tolerance? what shampoos are you using? are you taking any vitamins? hormone balance changes? any changes in medication? what is your natural hair color? have you used a different product from your last coloring?

I had braught 3-4 items of the same product. I came to know later abt my mother and MIl's experience.

I have used other products in the past but none have caused reactions, although since childhood my hair started turining grey(thats the reason I use color cream).

Revlon would be sending me shipping label.

Thanks

See, the thing is, the instructions are very specific. You should do the 'strand test' EVERY TIME you use the product because your skin can change, their product could change, etc.

Now, I DON'T do that... but if I CHOOSE not to, and my hair falls out or turns bright orange, that's due to my CHOICES not to the product.

If you chose not to follow the instructions, the company is not liable.

Bingo. I just went and looked at a box of wifey's hair color, and it says that even if you have never experienced a reaction to do the strand test each and every time.

The wife came close to losing her hair over the weekend. But it was her stupidity. She colored it 9 times in 2 days.

The final time, her hair was this gray/green color, and when wet, it was the consistency of over-cooked spaghetti (mushy and breaking off.)

She had to go to the salon, get it cut and have an intensive conditioning treatment done, which brought her back to her natural color.

She's still having some breakage, and is having to be VERY careful with it. She doesn't even have to wash it. It is that dry. Every night, she wets it and conditions it thoroughly. She has to go back in 2 weeks for another intensive conditioning treatment, and her colorist said it will be at least a year until she can do anything with color.

When my hair gets damaged, I use Hask Placenta spray on it. When my hair was down to my hips, the ends had been colored lots of times over the previous two years, but it still looked healthy.

I get the spray at Sally's Beauty Supply, but I'm sure it's available at regular department stores like Target and Wal-Mart. Of course, I've not (yet) overdone my hair like 2M's wife has, so I don't know how much it could help.

Thank you! I'll pass that along to the wifey-poo. It might be something she wants to look into. And I know we have a Sally's right by Walmart.
