Was I Scammed? In NY. Went to dentist for an emergency. At first receptionist said they took my health insurance, then they didn't, then they did, then they didn't.
Went to office - it was DISGUSTING! In the man's house. I was examed and told I needed surgery which I opted not to get. I paid them $75 via check that night. The following week I asked for a claim form to submit to my health plan for reimbursement. The receptionist sent it to me and highlighted the areas my husband was to sign. Turned out she highlighted an area that said payment was to be sent to the dentist.
After getting an explanation of benefits from my health insurance, I saw that they were sending him a check for $60 to cover the bill. My question is since I paid this dentist $75, shouldn't that money go to me? I contacted the health plan and they said they couldn't stop the check and that I need to get it from him.
I sent dentist a note with copy of explanation of benefits showing them sending him a $60 payment. What can I do if he doesn't send me a check for $60???? He, in essence, will be getting paid twice for one visit. Can I go to small claims court for it if he doesn't cooperate? |
