INcorrect RxI live in PA and I wanted to find out if there is anything I can do about a local drug store filling Rx's incorrectly. This has happened numerous times in my family alone and we have all been fortunate to catch the mistake ahead of time. However I just found out that they filled an antibiotic with an allergy medicine--which led my moms cold to get worse than it had been to begin with. She is also taking medication for her sugar and blood pressure. Before they have filled her other meds at HALF of the dose she should be taking--she noticed the size of the pill wasn't right before taking them. They have given my sister the wrong type of medication that she needs after having a brain tumor removed--which was caught because it would be given by pill rather than the fluid she normally gets. I'm concerned that these "fowl ups" could happen to someone else and be much more harmful, if not fatal, effect. Is there any thing we can do legally to help bring this to the publics attention? |

| Have you ever considered another pharmacy for your prescription needs? |

| Racer, we are going to another pharmacy. My concern is for the other people who get meds filled there. Not everyone pays attention to what they have, especially if the pills look the same. And for new Rxs the person wouldn't even know what the correct medication would look like. If they would give the wrong medication to someone who's on a variety of other meds it could be very dangerous. |

| Vega, You can contact the District Pharmacy manger. Let them know of your troubles and concerns. If it is a "chain pharmacy" like a retail pharmacy, you can contact their corp. headquarters with a complaint. Yes, I would definately go somewhere else!! I am a pharmacy tech. and these are some options for you. You can complain, you cannot sue unless there was damage to the organs or it resulted in death. Unfortunately, for your family members, mistakes were made. But, making a complaint will certainly lodge a investigation against the pharmisist. Someone needs to be notified within the company before anything will get done. Good luck, and go somewhere else. I would if it were me!! |
