Law Question Please Help

My company bottles orange juice and sells it to grocery stores. One of the bottles has been found to have poison in it. I cannont figure out where this poison came from and it is the only bottle that has ever been claimed to be poisoned that has come from my bottling plant. A three-year-old child drank some of this poisoned juice and is in a coma in the hospital. The parents of the child called and ask me what am I going to do about it? What would be the legal issues involved with this?

**A: is this your homework assignment because we know that you really don't own a company bottling orange juice?

Yes, I am a business student and am seeking some direction on this topic. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The first thing you do is call in the FBI and the FDA/Office of Criminal Investigations to find out where the tampering took place. It's quite possible the child's parents poisoned the child or more likely that someone tampered with the product while it was on the shelf.

You must establish that the poison was added after it left your plant. Tell the parents that you are awaiting the outcome of the criminal investigation.
