Question

My wife just had surgery on a herniated disc, that our chiropractor had caused when he started using a new machine, that he had just purchased from a chiropractic show, to adjust her lower back. We have been getting different opinions from a few lawyers on their estimate of what the case is worth. It has ranged from $100K up to $300K. I was wondering if there is a site that I could use as a guideline of settlements paid out, from this type of back injury?
Thanks,
RodneyG

My response:

I don't know about Websites with this type of information; however, there are "jury verdict" books in local law libraries. As an example, in California, I look to "O'Brian's Jury Verdicts" - - a compendium of different types of cases that have gone to verdict. It gives me information concerning the type of case, a summary of facts of the allegations and defenses, the exact injuries involved, a summary of the expert witness testimony, and any offers prior to trial, along with the final verdicts if the case didn't settle. There may be something similar in your State.

Good luck.
