Legal Malpractice

During a hearing for temporary relief my attorney told me that i was not required to show up for the hearing, now i've been found in contempt of court and there have been other items during this divorce that my attorney has steered me wrong on costing me several thousand dollars and almost some jail time. Is this legal malpratice? I reside in Mississippi.
