If a child has lice does a Licensed Cosmetologist have a professional duty to inform the childs school and/or family and friends?

My response:

In California, for example, a Cosmetologist has a duty by law to report communicable diseases and conditions. I imagine, since you never mentioned your State, that the same laws would apply - - however, I have no way to know as a result.

Can you be sued by the childs parent for liable or slander for telling the school that the student has lice?
