Options on Malpractice suit

What is the name of your state? il
I was diagnosed with Multiple Scelerosis 11 years ago at the Mayo clinic in MN. Top neurologist in chicago confirmed and proceeded with several treatment types including steroids that damaged bones in my shoulders. Was also on several of the interferons. Dr retired and saw a new neurologist. He told me to have a MRI since I had not had one in ten years. Former doctor never suggested this. Turns out I do not have MS but a compression of the spine in my neck which surgery can cure. Last ten years have had diminished quality of life, passed up job promotions and took several medications that served no purpose.
Can a retired doctor be sued?

It is your second diagnosis and not the first that I suggest you question.
MS is an auto-immune disease, much as the great mimic known commonly as lupus.
You probably do have compression problems in your cervical spine and those problems were probably made worse by treatment with steroids, even over-treatment with steroids as that seems to be the usual action by physicians who have little understanding of the complete and complex issues of auto-immune disorders.
If you email me at ellencee@hotmail.com, I will be more than glad to provide you with the name of a doctor in Atlanta, GA who has unparalleled success in treating auto-immune disorders. When you leave his office after the first visit, you will know where you stand as regards your physical status.
I suggest you see someone of his qualifications before you have any surgical procedures, lest you suffer exacerbation of MS along with your cervial spine compression resolution.
