paranoid psychosis vs. nms Approximately 6 months ago I experienced first hand a hospital from hell. It is only now, after researching and trying to get to the bottom of what happened, have I been able to come up with a question that no one involved is willing to give me a straight answer to. On the very same day my primary care dr. diagnosed me with paranoid psychosis, a psychiatrist diagnosed my condition as neuroleptic malignant syndrome. How can this be?? From what I can tell, nms would be highly more likely because of the cause and symptoms. Haloperidol(prescribed by primary dr.) the cause and rigity, blank stare, sweating, locked jaw among the symptoms. I feel my primary Dr. blew it. And if that is the case, he should be held accountable for putting me through hell! It was because of his diagnosis I ended up in a mental facility
(the hospital from hell) when I should have been in ICU somewhere!! Please, does anyone have an explanation that would help me understand how either of these 2 conditions be mistaken for the other? Thank you.
