| My 14 y/o daughter had an appendectomy and then consequently two more surgeries for peritonitis. When I took her in for her post op after the appendectomy the surgeon stood across the exam room and asked how she felt, never once looking at the incision or feeling her abdomen. Though I voiced my concern about her still vomiting, and not eating we were sent home with a clean bill of health. The following evening I returned her to the emergency room with a temp and a CT Scan showed an abscess the size of a softball in her belly. The infection was so massive that it was spilling from her vagina. Since her surgery her menstrual periods are extremely irregular. Her physician has voiced concern of her ability to ever conceive. Apparently the infection may have caused extensive scarring in her fallopian tubes. If he had only done a proper post op check up he would have determined that there was an infection brewing and performed the second surgery before the infection got out of control. Am I nuts, or did he just not perform in a professional manner? |
